RJ found us at South Brevard Animal Services. Having lost our boy, Rick, only the night before, we realized we couldn't live another day without a furry creature. RJ's pen had a handwritten sign "I give kisses". And he did. He was a big boy - around 75 lbs. with eyes that would melt your heart. He was such a gentle guy - soft spoken, polite, patient, and understanding. He helped teach several of our grandchildren manners, compassion, and loyalty. At the dog park he was the mediator. If there was a ruckus he would place himself in the middle of it with a firm stance and everything would quiet down. He knew us and had few expectations - our companionship was all he ever asked for. To say he was our best boy might seem unfair to those who came before. But he was our best boy. We've had a few and loved them all, but honestly, RJ was special. He had intuition and unwavering devotion. A best friend and confidant. We miss him as much today as we did when he left. Such a big heartfelt thanks to Donna for her commitment to helping our pets and their humans through difficult times.
